The Broads of Broadway
December 2 - 4
Director - Tom "Rosey" Rosenberger
Choreographer - Mia Comparetto
From Sophie Tucker to the birth of the blues, "The Broads of Broadway" is a sassy, brassy, classy revue of the best of Broadway musicals. Chock full of songs from Phantom of the Opera, Funny Girl, The Wiz, Jersey Boys, er ... make that Jersey Girls ... and many more, the show serves up great fun and good humor.
The Master of Ceremonies (a la Cabaret) and a Phyllis Diller clone provide a side order of comic relief. And "Broads" dishes up plenty of opportunities to sing along.
Local talent abounds in this upbeat revue that also peeks at the milieu surrounding the music: Lincoln Center; Fats Waller's world; the gay Paree of La Cage Aux Folles -- even a visit to Tsarist Russia via violin.
Feel-good songs guarantee the audience will exit on a high note humming a favorite tune.
The Broads of Broadway is an original Pineapple Playhouse production. Musical selections by arrangement with ASCAP.
